DHAKA: BNP will not respond to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s call for joining interim government.
The decision came from a meeting of party’s standing committee at its chairperson’s Gulshan political office on Thursday night.
The meeting started at 10:30pm and continued till 12:00am.
Sheikh Hasina, in a recent interview with BBC, gave proposal to BNP to join interim government which to be formed during general election.
BNP will not take part in election sans caretaker government system. The party will not join any discussion over forming outline interim government.
BNP standing committee member Lt. General (retd) Mahbubur Rahman banglanews, “We decided that BNP would not to respond in PM’s call to join interim government.”
“BNP will determine on its demand of restoration of CG system. The opposition party will not accept any strategy of the government,” he added.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Members Dr. RA Goni, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Toriqul Islam, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircer, MK Anwar, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan and among other attended the meeting.
