KUALA LUMPUR: A three-day long Bangladesh Trade Fair-2012 will begin from Friday at Dataran Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur.
Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce (BMCCI) disclosed the matter at a press conference held at Bangladesh High Commission to Malaysia.
The fair will be organized by BMCCI to be continued to July 15.
Organizers said the fair will highlight the cultures, customs and industrial initiatives of Bangladesh.
The fair will highlight the potentialities of the industrial sector of the country, said Showcase Bangladesh organizing committee chairman Syed Muazzem Hossain.
Some 63 stalls have been allocated so far in the fair.
Malaysia can be the new destination for Bangladeshi garments products as the Malaysian government has authorized duty free entrance for 300 Bangladeshi products including readymade garments, handicrafts, home textiles, jute and jute made products, leather products, medicines, herbal products, plastics, ceramic table wears and Halal products, the expatriates said.
“The fair has been organized as we don’t want to miss the opportunity for doing business in Malaysia,” said High Commissioner AKM Atiqur Rahman.
BMCCI leaders, Bangladeshi High Commission officials and expatriate Bangladeshis were present at the press briefing.
Commerce Minister Golam Mohammad Quader, Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and Malaysian International Trade and Industry Minister Dato Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed are likely to attend the inaugural programme.
Artiste Sabina Yeasmin will perform songs in the fair.
