Luxurious MV Mahirah launched

DHAKA: MV Mahirah, country’s first fully air-conditioned luxury tourism vessel, was formally launched on June 29.

The vessel will be used to carry tourists wishing to visit one of the natural wonders of the world, the Sundarbans.

A cruise of the Buriganga and Shitalakhya rivers for the members of the media was arranged on the day to mark the launching of the vessel.

Begum Aziza Selim, Chief Executive Officer, Green Channel owner of the vessel said, “The number of persons visiting the Sundarbans has increased over the years.”

“We are offering three-day two-night package to the Sundarbans to fulfill the demand of the tourists. Four-night five-day package would be offered for those who would wish to avail such a package,” she added.

A total of 40 tourists can travel on MV Mahirah at a time. There are 17 twin share cabins, three single cabins and two Ambassador Suites with attached baths.

There are also a big meeting lounge, gymnasium, home theatre and a small-sized swimming pool and other facilities on board.
