DHAKA: The newly appointed vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Professor Anwar Hossain took his office Sunday.
Just resigned VC Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir handed over the charge to Professor Anwar in the afternoon.
After taking charge, Professor Anwar said, “I will try my best to run the varsity as per Ordinance of 1973 and to make a dream campus.”
On May 17, Dhaka University Professor Anwar Hossain was appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University just after resignation of Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir.
Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir resigned as VC of the University and submitted the resignation letter to President M Zillur Rahman, chancellor of the university, at a meeting with him at Bangabhaban.
Born on August 20 in 1950, Professor Anwar Hossain completed his BSc (Honors) in 1971 and MSc in 1972 in Biochemistry from Dhaka University.
Professor Anwar has been teaching for 30 years in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of University of Dhaka.
He has also been teaching at the Department of Molecular Genetics and Plant Breeding of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University as an Adjunct Faculty.
