SANGSAD BHABAN: The Grameen Bank (Amendment) Bill-2012 was placed before the Jatiya Sangsad Tuesday in a bid to bring amendments to the Grameen Bank Ordinance-1983.
On behalf of Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Planning Minister AK Khandaker placed the bill with a proposal for amending the existing process of appointment of managing director of the bank.
On August 23, President M Zillur Rahman promulgated an ordinance amending the Grameen Bank Ordinance-1983.
The chairman of Grameen Bank will form a selection committee in consultation with the board of directors to prepare a three-member panel for appointing a managing director to the bank, the bill says.
Later, the bill was sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Finance for vetting.
