3 held in capital

DHAKA: Locals held three youths and handed them over to police in city’s Pallabi area on Friday night for hurling invective at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The detainees are—Babul, 27, Hafez Hamidul Islam, 28, and Anwar Hossain, 38.

Pallabi thana SI Siddiqur Rahman said, “They hurled invective at Bagabandhu at about 11pm while sitting at a local tea stall. Later, locals chased and held the youths suspecting them members of banned Islamist outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir.”

A case will be filed against them, said police.
