DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Tuesday categorically said the government would not request anymore to any donor agency for financing in much-talked-about Padma Bridge Project.
The premier came up with assertion while inaugurating a three-day conference of the deputy commissioners at the Prime Minister Office.
She, however, said: “If any donor agency comes willingly to finance the project, we will welcome. But, we will not urge to any donor agency further to fund the project.”
Sheikh Hasina said, “Earlier on Monday, we have decided in the cabinet meeting to begin Padma Bridge construction work by 2012 with country’s own fund.”
Cabinet Secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan delivered the welcome speech in the conference.
Cabinet members, Prime Minister’s advisors, state ministers, secretaries of different ministries, divisional commissioners and senior officials of the PMO attended the conference.
