Politics and Prejudice

It seems that both the political rivals are somehow swayed to sit together to resolve the prevailing political standoff in the country. What made them faraway from each other are some major political agenda including the caretaker system and so on.

The full verdict of the caretaker government is yet to appear for us. But much before that the government has invalidated the caretaker government by amending the constitution.

The history of the formation of caretaker government gives a picture of mass movement propelled by the then opposition Awami League. Without repeating the history, it cannot but be said that AL has dissolved the system.

However, history repeats itself.

As the general election is drawing near, the movement by the opposition becoming brawny with renewed vigor and vehemence. Though, the opposition yet could not draw any significant visible movement against the government. The government fully controlled formation of any movement or agitation before it is is grown up irrespective of the way the government has followed.

The opposition has failed to raise its voice for the people, let alone the government. Both the government and the opposition has shown their total disregard to the interest of the people which they were mandated for.

Upholding the interest of the people and the country is a term has gone archaic to our political leaders. Preserving the interest of their own is the prime objective of our leaders. We have observed lot of such examples in our very recent past. They suffer from insomnia to preserve their interest. The real country-loving political leaders find no space in politics of money and muscle.

In this juncture, an initiative needs to be taken by the parties to come to a solution to avoid any future perilous situation in the political firmament.

To reach an amicable solution, both the parties need to be reverent to each other and to be realistic and flexible as well. Since the formation of the government both AL and BNP has shown utmost disregard to each other which elevated the existing worse situation and shrunk the understanding between the parties.
We do not want our country to experience another political mishap as a result of closing the eyes to the preserving of rule of law, democracy and good governance. To return to democracy, it took us a lot. But unfortunately, ‘no one take lesson from history’ is the biggest truth of history.

To uphold the democratic norms and value, the leaders will surely to sit and have a dialogue, we believe. The parties will let democracy to follow its own way rather to divert it from its usual path.
