DHAKA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hasan Mahmud Khandaker on Friday said the law and order situation of the country during Ramadan is good.
Overall circumstances could not be measured by one or two separate incidents, he defended.
He came up with the statement while talking to the journalists after a prize giving ceremony at city’s Rajarbag Police Line Mosque.
The police chief said no big occurrence has been reported yet as law enforcement agency members are working cordially across the country on the occasion of holy Ramadan.
Regarding the extortion incidents at transport sector, he said that no incident of extortion has taken place yet. More patrol team will be deployed to ensure people’s safety during the holy month.
He also wished a happy Eid for all Muslims.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benazir Ahmed and top officials of Bangladesh Police were also present in the ceremony.
