DHAKA: An evening of kathak dance performance by noted Indian dancer Ashimbandhu Bhattacharjee will be held at the main auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum in Dhaka.
To be organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, the performance will begin at 6:30pm on January 27.
According to the organisers, Ashimbandhu is one of the leading exponents of kathak dance in India.
‘Ashimbandhu, who was initiated to the world of music and dance at an early age, incorporates in his dance style an amalgamation of the Jaipur and Lucknow gharanas of Kathak and hence bends a unique combination of grace and vigour,’ the organiser’s release said.
A performer, trainer and a choreographer par excellence, Ashimbandhu has carved a niche for himself and has given a new dimension to kathak dance, the release added.
The artiste has composed popular numbers that include ‘Om Shakti Vasudeva’, ‘Togetherness’, ‘Ghungroo’ and ‘Bhoomi Bhashit’.
He is the founding director of the Upasana Centre for Dance.
Complimentary passes will be collected from IGCC in Dhanmondi and Gulshan-1.
