Pvt varsities turn business centers: Nahid

DHAKA : Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Thursday alleged that country’s private universities except five to six have turned into business centers.

He advised the people, who want to make money from education sector, to leave the filed.

The minister came up with the assessment while addressing a national workshop on review of draft report due to fixation of implement strategy of National Education Policy-2010 at National Education Management Academy auditorium around 10:30 pm.

Nahid said, “We want to build new generation in new form. It is necessary to bring qualitative change in Traditional education. For this reason, we have formulated the National Education Policy. Huge discussions and publicity are necessary to implement the policy.

“TIB admitted that corruption in education sector has reduced. We want to a corruption free administration and prevent corruption form the society. In line with the steps, we can build a Bangladesh consisted with ideology of the Bangabandhu,” he added.

He informed the audience that the government has already introduced multimedia classes in 500 schools and would introduce in 2,500 schools across the country to build a modern and developed technology based ‘Digital Bangladesh’.

With Secondary and higher secondary Education Department director professor Noman-ur-Rashid in the chair, the workshop was attended among others by Primary and Mass education secretary MM Niazuddin, Additional secretary of Education SM Golam Faruk and Additional Secretary Md Iqbal Khan Chowdhury.
