LONDON: Speakers at a seminar on ‘Human Rights in Bangladesh’ recommended Bangladesh government to reinstate caretaker government (CG) system aiming to ensure free and fair national election.
The seminar organized by ‘Bangladesh Center for Social Development, UK’ in East London Jagonari Centre on May 10, granted 11 proposals including caretaker system with a view to avoiding violation of human rights in Bangladesh caused by recent political violence.
South Asia affairs representative of international human rights association ‘Amnesty International’ Abbas Fayez was present in the programme as chief guest.
With the forum convener Mohidur Rahman in the chair, Former Professor of Cardiff University and renowned educationalist Dr KMA Malik presented the keynote paper in the seminar.
Among others, Dr Momin Chowdury, Barrister Nazir Hossain, Editor Chowdury Faruk, Major (Retd) Faruk, Writer Monwar Badrudduza were present as discussants.
The speakers in the seminar expressed their deep concern over current situation of human rights violation in Bangladesh.
They urged both government and opposition parties to work unitedly in order to get rid of the current situation.
