DHAKA: A total of 140 villages on Sunday observed Eid-ul-Fitr in line with Saudi Arabia, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims, in 13 districts around the country.
If the moon sighted in anyplace in the world, people of some areas celebrated Eid. Some also traditionally follow the Saudi Arabian timetable.

In Chandpur, more than 50,000 people celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr in the district Sunday in conformity with Saudi Arabia.
Some 50,000 followers of Sadra Darbar Sharif from 40 villages of the district also celebrated the Eid-ul-fitr, reports our correspondent.
They have been celebrating the biggest religious festival of the Muslims from last 83 years.
Eid was celebrated at Bolakhal, Sreepur, Borokul, Olipur, Belchon, Rajargaon, Jakni, Kalchon, Menapur, Shachanmegh, Khila, Ubharampur, Pikepara, Bhulachar, Uttoli, Balithuba, Sholla, Rupsa, Goalbhander, Koroitoli, Noyarhat, Mohonpur, Ekhlaspur, Doshani, Nayergaon, Beltoli and some other villages in the districts.
Besides, followers of Maulana Ishak Khan from some other districts, including Noakhali, Laxmipur and Shariatpur observed the holy Eid in the day.
In Chittagong, people of 50 villages from south Chittagong celebrated Eid.
Besides, some villages from Sitakunda Sandwip, Hathazari, Mirsharai, Rangunia,Bandarban, Ukhiya and Alikadam areas also celebrated Eid.
Narayanganj: An Eid Jamaat was held at Hazrat Shah Sufi Mamtazia Hefazkhana ground around 10:00am.
Barisal: Around 15000 people of 80 villages under Sadar, Babuganj, Hizla, Bakerganj of Barisal and Bauphal, Kalapara, Galachipa Mirzaganj of Patuakhali district, are celebrated Eid on Sunday.
Jhenaidah: Following Saudi Arabia, people of Harinakundu upazila celebrated Eid amid locals and Upazila administration’s hindrance.
Madaripur: Around 50000 followers of Hajrat Sureshwari (R) under four villages of the district celebrated Eid Sunday. The followers have been performing the task for 141 years.
Besides, followers of Sureshwari from Dinajpur, Faridpur ad Pirojpur celebrated Eid on Sunday.
