MADARIPUR : The government has hiked the fares for ferry services in all the routes by 10 percent due to the rise in fuel prices from Saturday morning.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said the newly fixed fares were enforced from 6:01am.
The fares were increased from TK 1680 to 1850 for big trucks, TK 1260 to 1390 for general trucks, TK 720 to 810 for small trucks, TK 1430 to 1575 for buses, TK 1210 to 1335 for small buses, TK 580 to 640 for microbuses, TK 540 to 595 for jeeps, TK 310 to 345 for private vehicles.
Besides, the passenger fare was increased by TK 2 but the van and rickshaw fare remained same as TK 120.
BIWTC Kawrakandi Ghat manager Abdul Baten told banglanews, the fares were increased by 10 percent from Saturday morning due to the consecutive rise in fuel prices.
