DHAKA: Opposition BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed Saturday alleged that the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is working to implement government’s agenda.

The BNP leader came up with the allegation while addressing a roundtable titled ‘Role of government and ACC in preventing corruption and people’s expectation’ organized by Jatiyatabadi Sanskritik Dal at National Press Club.

Claiming that the roles of government and the ACC are one and the same, he said, “ACC gives ‘innocent’ certificates to the corrupt ruling party people, but it sues the opposition people involved allegedly in corruption.”

Challenging the ACC allegation of having his residence in London, Moudud said, “ACC has to give the residence to me if it cannot prove the allegation. Otherwise I will sue them.”

With president of Jatiyatabadi Sanskritik Dal Maj (Retd) MA Mehbub Rahman in the chair, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by BNP’s Self Reliance Affairs Secretary Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu and Juba Dal executive committee member Gias Uddin Mamun.

Mentioning ACC Chairman Golam Rahman as a ‘Toothless Tiger’, Mehbub Rahman said, “It will not be wrong if ACC is termed as a ‘corrupt’ institution.”
