JP withdraws candidacy from RCC poll

RANGPUR: Jatiya Party (JP) withdrew candidacy from Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) election.

JP candidate Moshiur Rahman Ranga made the announcement at a press conference Thursday noon.

Earlier, Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad directed Ranga to withdraw his candidacy from the poll at a press conference at around 12 noon.

Besides, the party decided to expel two rebel candidates--- metropolitan convener of Trinamool Jatiya Party Abdur Rauf Manik and Rangpur district convener Rahman Mostafa.

Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) election will be held on December 20.

Thursday was the last day for canceling nomination.

On July 1, the government declared Rangpur district municipal town as City Corporation.
