DHAKA: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the students’ wing of ruling Awami League has chalked out a month-long programme in August marking the National Mourning Day on August 15 and the Grenade Attack Day on August 21.
The announcement came from a meeting of BCL central executive committee at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city Tuesday.
According to meeting source, BCL will observe the 37th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 and the 8th anniversary of Grenade Attack on August 21 in a befitting manner.
A press release of BCL signed by its office secretary Sheikh Russell said the programmes include, mourning processions, discussions, human chains, doa mahfil and special prayers, placing of wreaths at the graves of Bangabandhu and others killed on the day.
The BCL`s programme for the National Mourning Day on August 15 include hoisting of national and organisational flags at half- mast and black flag in its offices, wearing of black badges, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu and distribution of ifter among destitute.
A team of BCL central leaders will go to Tungipara in Gopalganj district to pay their homage to Bangabandhu at his mazar complex and offer fateha and participate in milad mahfil there.
Besides, BCL will observe the 8th anniversary of grenade attack mounted on Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on August 21 in 2004 in a befitting manner and pay homage to those killed on the day.
