DHAKA: Opposition BNP threatened to announce tougher movements if the government put bars while observing mass-contact campaign and rallies on December 26.
Tariqul, also the coordinator of the opposition BNP, came up with such warning at a press conference at BNP office at capital’s Nayapaltan on Friday.
Tariqul Islam said, “If necessary, we will call 3-day or 7-day hartal if the government hinders our programme.”
BNP high-ups also planned to stay seize important offices apart from blocking the road and railway if they are barred, he added.
BNP insiders said, party Chairperson is supposed to address rallies at about 5 points on the streets and anti-government campaigns.
The opposition rally on December 26 will begin at capital’s Gabtoli at 11:00 am.
The programme was addressed, among others, by BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia and Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
