DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed alleged that the government is repressing opposition parties losing its popularity.
“The government has lost its self-confidence. They are repressing the opposition party as they have lost their popularity,” he said.
The senior leader of the party came up with the allegation while addressing a discussion meeting held at the National Press Club.
Bangladesh Rural Human Rights Journalist Forum organized the discussion meeting on the occasion of ‘Black Day of Mass Media’.
The opposition BNP lawmaker also alleged that the incumbent government has beat Moinuddin-Fakhruddin government in terms of violation of human rights.
Calling upon the government, he said, “There is still time to come back on way to democracy.”
With president of the organization Sakhawat Hossain Moin Chowdhury in the chair, the programme was also, addressed among others, by Dhaka City of Jamaat Amir Hamidur Rahman Azad MP and secretary-general of Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh Dr AZM Zahid.
