DHAKA: Bangladesh’s one of the popular singers Bappa Majumdar will perform at a programme titled ‘An Evening of Rock Music by Dalchhut’ at IGCC in Gulshan in city.
Indian high commission’s Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre will organise the event at 6:30pm on June 1.
The music band Dalchhut was formed by late Sanjeeb Chowdhury and Bappa Mazumder in November 1996.
Besides releasing five music albums, namely, ‘Ahh!!!’ (1997), Hridoypur (2000), Akashchoori (2002), Jochhnabihar (2007) and Aay Amontron (2010), the music band has also earned popularity for its live performances on stage as well as on television channels.
The band has been playing an important role in inspiring the young and aspiring musicians in Bangladesh, through talent hunt shows, rock shows and personal contact.
Dalchhut has several hits including Bajee, Shada, Moyla, Garichole, Na bioscope tomakei, Bole debo akashchoori, Jochhnabihar,mon chhuyechho, etc.
According to the organisers, ‘One of the most endearing features of this band is the way its members interact with the audience while performing on stage.’
Besides, interacting with the audience, the band is also known for the social messages that it spreads across the masses in the country, starting from creating drug awareness among the youngsters, offering support to acid victims, to speak against violence against women, the organisers added.
Dalchhut’s current line-up comprises of Bappa Mazumder (vocals and guitar), Rose on drums, Bullet on keyboards and supporting vocal, Tanim on bass guitar and supporting vocal and Shahan Kabondho for band management.
The programme will be open to all.
