RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY: The Rajshahi University (RU) authority has formed a five-member probe committee over BCL leader Sohel Rana killing.
The committee was formed at an urgent syndicate meeting presided over by RU VC Professor M Abdus Sobhan at about 8:30pm on Monday.
Botany Department Professor Dr GOlam Kabir was made the convener of the probe committee.
Other members of the committee are Dean of Law Faculty Bishwajit Chandra, syndicate member Professor Rustom Ali, Professor Zafer Sadik and general secretary of RU Teachers’ Association Professor Dr Munshi Munjurul Haque.
The committee was asked to submit the probe report within 15 days.
Meeting sources said the authority would take action against the persons involved with the killing as per the probe report.
Two BCL factions exchanged fire at Rajshahi University early Monday over establishing supremacy on the campus, leaving two BCL activists Sohel and Imran injured.
At least 15 rounds of bullets were exchanged during the gunfight between the supporters of RU Chhatra League President Ahmed Ali and General Secretary Abu Hossain Bipu at Madar Baksh Hall at about 12:15am.
The bullet wounded BCL leader Sohel Rana was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday noon.
