Garment workers’ music contest kicks off Sunday

DHAKA: A music contest titled ‘BGMEA Gorbo-2012`, with the participation of garment workers is set to begin in the city on Sunday.

According to a BGMEA press release, Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is expected to inaugurate the musical contest as the chief guest in city’s Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel at about 4 pm.

A CD of songs styled `Amader Gaan` will also be released on the inaugural session.

Among others, Commerce Minister GM Quader, US Ambassador to Bangladesh Dan Mozena, diplomats, economists and civil society members will attend the event.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TV programme- producer Matra to organise the music contest.
