DHAKA: Dhaka University Day will be observed on Sunday in a befitting manner with the theme of `Higher Education in Women Empowerment`.
A DU press release said this on Thursday.
Rallies will be brought out from the residential halls of the university at 9 am while national flag, DU flag and flags of different halls will be hoisted at 9.15 am, release added.
Marking the day, a discussion and reminiscing programme will be held at 10.05 am at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC).
Professor Emeritus Anisuzzman will present a paper on "Higher Education in `Women Empowerment` at the discussion.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will attend the discussion as chief guest while Pro-Vice Chancellors Professor Nasreen Ahmed (academic) and Professor Shahid Akther Hossain (administration) will take part as special guests.
Among others, former vice-chancellors, pro-vice chancellors, emeritus professors, teachers and representatives of staffs and employees will participate at the discussion to be presided over by DU Treasurer Professor M Kamal Uddin.
Halls, departments and other offices of the university will remain open marking the day.
