The press release stated that the fund will come from one day salary of UGC officers, money allocated for the purchase of car of UGC Chairman which he is forgoing and from other miscellaneous sources.
Earlier on Jun 29, the World Bank cancelled $1.2 billion fund for the Padma bridge project.
On July 9, the government decided not to request the World Bank (WB) for funding in much-talked-about Padma Bridge project rather it would begin construction works with own funding soon.
The cabinet approved beginning of Padma Bridge construction work by 2012 with country’s own fund on the same day.
Meanwhile, it decided to collect fund from foreign sources.
