DHAKA: Members of the Detective Branch of police failed to arrest Maulana Abul Kalam Azad alias ‘Bacchu Razaker’ on Tuesday.

He fled his residence in the city`s Uttarkhan area before the International Crimes Tribunal-2 ordered his arrest in connection with crimes against humanity earlier in the morning.

A team from Detective Branch of police cordoned his Uttarkhan residence on Tuesday noon, just immediate after getting the arrest warrant against him.

Quoting family members, DB police source told banglanews, “Azad along with his two sons left the house on early Tuesday.”

However, it is suspected that Abul Kalam Azad was staying at the house.

Earlier in the morning, International Crimes Tribunal-2 issued arrest warrant against Abul Kalam Azad alias ‘Bacchu Razakar’.

The tribunal also asked the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner to ensure execution of the order and to produce him before the court within 24 hours.
