DHAKA: Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Monday recommended a bulk tariff hike by 21.89 percent or 88 paisa per unit at consumer level.
The BERC authority came up with the recommendation in a public hearing.
Power Development Board (PDB) proposed to increase bulk prices hike by 50 percent (2.01 per unit).
The bulk price is now at TK 4.02 per unit.
BERC Chairman Syed Yusuf Hossain, member Dr. Selim Mahmud, and Engineer Imdadul Haque are conducting the public hearings.
As per PDB proposal, the state-owned agency would have to bear deficit TK 0.84 per unit, though bulk tariff hike to increase 50 percent.
