Kolkata: Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly on Friday said that the future of Indian cricket relies on Virat Kohli, while interacting with school children at a promotional event in Kolkata.
Ganguly was pleased with the current generation`s performance as he said India has a lot of talented youngsters, but they need time to prove their mettle at the international level.
"I think much of Indian cricket`s future will rest on Virat Kohli now. I see a lot of talent in India, but they should be given time to settle down at the international level," he said.
Ganguly who was interacting with school children wouldn`t have expected questions that would be difficult to counter similar to Shaoib Akhtar`s bouncers.
The veteran cricketer ensured that he answered to all the questions posed at him in a quiet manner.
One of the questions posed at him were about Indian bowlers and their pace, as they slow down over the years which surprised the south-paw as he had nmot expected such a question but handled it elegantly.
"Very good observation. I think it`s mainly because of their lack of strength and fitness. At the same time it is also their attitudes. A pacer should always think, say like Shoaib Akhtar and be imposing on the field," he said.
While talking about the Indian cricket team, he also mentioned that the team has been doing very well and the
future seems to be optimistic.
Moreover, with Virat Kohli doing a fabulous job for India, Ganguly felt the team`s future rests on the Delhi-lad.
"I think much of Indian cricket`s future will rest on Virat Kohli now. I see a lot of talent in India, but they should be given time to settle down at the international level," he said.
He further added saying that many Bengal players have shown temperament which was a good sign for Bengal and the national team.
"I feel a number of Bengal players like Ashok Dinda, Manoj Tiwary, Wriddhiman Saha have loads of talent and temperament to play for India," he said.
