Joint plant to solve power problem

DHAKA: Admitting power as big problem, Prime Minister`s International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi categorically said that the government is planning for regional energy co-operation with India-Nepal-Bhutan to set up hydro power project.

“GDP will be increased by 2 percent if the power problem is solved,” he added.

He came up with the observation in a seminar at National Press Club in the city Friday.

Gowher Rizvi said, “The Indian businessmen are trying to invest in Bangladesh and it was possible to solve many problems including three Bigha Corridor when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited India.”

The Teesta deal will be signed soon as Indian central government is trying to convince the West Bengal government and the shared water is flowing to us, he added.

He also opined for bilateral talk to solve all kinds of problem.
