KUSHTIA: The activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Tuesday morning halted movements of Islamic University (IU) staff buses protesting an attack on one of their fellow students by another BCL faction.
Source said the administrative activities of the University came to a halt Tuesday morning as the demonstrating BCL men snatched keys of all the 19 staff buses of the university from the garages at Customs intersection of Kushtia town and Arabpur intersection in Jhenidah.
Meanwhile, they blocked the Kushtia-Jhenidah highway for half an hour since 8:30am.
The official work is being stopped as no employee of the university can enter inside the campus due to transportation halt.
Although the university went on Eid vacation earlier the administrative activities will be remain open till Thursday.
The university authorities however postponed the activities of recruitment board for Monday and Tuesday following a conflict between the teachers and for ongoing problems between the BCL groups over the recruitment.
Sources said there was a long standing dispute between the supporters of BCL leaders Jahangir and Gaffar. On Monday, supporters of Jahangir allegedly stabbed Hafizur Rahman, loyal to Gaffar, around 4:00pm.
Hafizur was rushed to the university`s medical centre from where he was shifted to Kushtia General Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
