Trader hacked to death in Satkhira, killer lynched

SATKHIRA: An extortionist was beaten to death for killing a trader in Magura Bazar area under Tala upazila in the district on Monday morning.

The trader was identified as Ajit Mandal, 40, son of Nitai Mandal while the extortionist Tobibur Rahman Topu, 25, hailed from Khulna district.

Witnesses said Topu demanded extortion from Ajit while he was returning from Tala Bazar. At one stage of argument, Topu hacked Ajit to death at about 8am as he refused to give any money.

Hearing the cry of Ajit, locals rushed in and beat Topu black and blue leaving him dead on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Tala thana OC Akhtaruzzaman said police recovered the bodies and district additional police super Jaidev Chowdhury visited the spot.
