50 tortoises seized in Patuakhali

PATUAKHALI: Detective Branch (DB) of police, in a drive, seized 50 rare species tortoises from a Jessore-bound bus in Patuakhali bus stand area on Wednesday night.

The tortoises were released in Lohalia River in presence of executive magistrate Asad Anam Siddique.

DB police SI Md Nazrul Islam told banglanews, “Acting on a tip off, police conducted a drive in Patuakhali bus stand area around 10pm and seized the tortoises.”

None was held in this regard.
