NARAYANGANJ: Sub-Inspector of Siddhirganj Thana Mamun was closed for beating up two senior photojournalists of two National English dailies of the district on Tuesday.
Police Super of the district Sheikh Nazmul Alam told that departmental actions would be taken against him.
Additional Police Super (crime) Ashrafuzzaman and other senior officials of the district police visited the area and they assured the journalists that police would pay the compensation for braking camera.
They would also take necessary steps against him.
Photojournalist Sowrav told banglanews that SI Mamun prevented them to capture the scene and scolded them when he and his colleague protested against the SI then the other police men started them beating and lifted them to the police van.
Earlier, the other journalists’ blockade Narayanganj-Adamzi- Demra road protesting the incident, later police super Nazmul Alam assured them about the punishment of the SI and they withdrew the blockade.
