SYLHET: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Thursday said meritorious students can change Bangladesh as they are the future leader of the country.
The minister came up with the observation while addressing a scholarship awarding ceremony held at upazila auditorium in the district.
There is no alternative to proper education at every stage of life. If the new generation moves, it’s possible to remove corruption and superstition from the society, he added.
He also assured the National Education Policy is on pace.
Sylhet Gas Field Ltd organized the programme to give scholarship to 140 students.
With managing director of the gas field M Tofazzal Hossain in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by Beanibazar Govt College Principal Darkesh Chandra Nath, Upazila Parishad acting chairman Ruma Chakraborty and UNO Subrata Kumar Dev.
