DHAKA: `Bond` – `James Bond` or `zero zero seven` or `double o seven` – these words are very popular mostly among the younger movie-buffs across the world.
This `007` coded world famous James Bond is now in Dhaka.
Bond`s recent blockbuster ‘Skyfall’ had its Dhaka premiere at Basundhara City Shopping Mall’s Star Cineplex Thursday night.
The twenty-third episode in Bond series of spy films, ‘Skyfall’ had its London premiere on 23 October, the UK release on 26 October and the USA premiere on November 8.
Just within a month, Bangladesh moviegoers got the opportunity to enjoy the movie in their city cinema hall. Both the movie-lovers and the Cineplex authorities expressed their pleasure for being Bond here in city.
A huge crowd enjoyed a gala programme featuring red carpet show, fashion show, music programme and of course, the screening of the movie to celebrate the the fifty years of the Bond series, which began with Dr No in 1962..
A group of models attended a parade wearing reproductions of Bond costumes.
Local celebrities and foreign diplomats, among others, joined the programmes.
The movie directed by Sam Mendes and performed by Daniel Craig as James Bond deals with Bond’s investigation on an attack on the British intelligence agency MI6.
Shooting of the film began in November 2011 and took place in the United Kingdom, China and Turkey.
This nearly 200-million-dollar movie has already earned about $800 million world-wide. It is considered the highest-grossing film in the Bond series.
The Cineplex authorities will screen the movie at 11.15am, 2.00pm and 4.45pm on Friday on November 30.
It will be screened at 11.15am, 2.00pm, 4.45pm and 7:30pm on the following days.
