DHAKA: The High Court summoned the Managing Director and a pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to appear before the court on December 11 for their alleged misconduct with an HC judge.
Besides, the court asked MD Zakiul Islam and pilot Enam of the national flag carrier to explain why “contempt-of-court” charge should not be brought against them.
An HC bench comprising Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury and Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim issued the order following a writ petition filed by Advocate Riazuddin.
The court also directed the Biman authorities to submit a list of the crews on the particular day.
Barrister Rokon Uddin Mahmud and Barrister Mostafizur Rahman Khan stood for the writ petitioner.
Barrister Mostafizur Rahman Khan, quoting Barrister Rokon Uddin, told banglanews, “It seems from the published news that the justice took the seat after completing all procedures of the airport of his own.”
On October 28, the HC judge was sitting in the VIP lounge. In the meantime, protocol officer of Biman gave him a seat in business class.
Later, the crews “misbehaved” with the justice for sitting in business class being a passenger of economy class.
Barrister Rokon told the court a decision was taken on ticket up-gradation for VIPs n Biman in 2009 allowing the VIPs to upgrade their tickets if business-class seats remain vacant.
