GAZIPUR: A woman was killed as a passenger bus rammed her on Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Tongi Thana in the district Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rani Begum, 45, wife of Akkas Ali of Teknagpara village in the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Tongi Thana Ismail Hossain told banglanews that a rashly driven bus rammed Rani down while she was crossing the road in the area at around 10:30am, leaving her dead on the spot.
Later, locals held the driver and handed him over to police.
A case was filed in this connection, he added.
