DHAKA: The teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions, listed in monthly payment order (MPO) facilities, rejected the latest increment of their house and medical allowances.

Bangladesh Teachers and Employees Oikya Parishad convener Ali Ahmmad said, “The government has not discussed with us before taking the decision which defamed us.”

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, in a press briefing, made the announcement of increasing house rent and medical allowances for MPO listed teachers and employees which will come into effect from January 1.

As per the announcement, 456,590 teachers and employees of 26,047 non-government schools, colleges and madrasas will now get Tk 500 for house rent and Tk 300 in medical allowance earlier which were Tk 400 and Tk 150 respectively.
