DHAKA: Industries Minister Dilip Barua categorically said the government has taken necessary initiatives to keep sugar price stable during holy Ramadan.
“The government has imported some 5,000 tonnes sugar and some 59,000 tonnes sugar has been produced locally,” he said.
The industries minister came up with the observation in a programme of Bangladesh Sugarmill-Sugarcane Farmers’ Federation in the city Wednesday.
The federation placed 13-point demand to the minister.
With chief advisor of the federation M Akram Hossain Mia in the chair, the programme was also attended, among others, by state minister for Youth and Sports Ministry Ahad Ali Sarkar and Faridur Haque Khan.
