CHITTAGONG: Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan Tuesday said some 21 new ships would be purchased for Bangladesh Shipping Corporation in line with the ‘Vision-2021’.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has already been signed with China to buy six new ships involving Tk 1,400 crore.
The shipping minister came up with the disclosure while addressing an annual general meeting (AGM) of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC).
The ruling Awami League lawmaker also told his audience that a decision has been taken, in principle, to purchase another mother tanker involving Tk 300 crore.
Secretary of the ministry Abdul Mannan Haulader, Managing Director Muksudul Quader and executive director M Golam Maula also spoke at the function.
