TANGAIL: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 37-km long Bangabandhu Bridge-Tarakandi rail link on Saturday morning.
Earlier, the helicopter carrying the premier landed at about 10:20 am at helipad set up at east end of Bangabandhu Bridge and then she addressed a rally at a ground adjacent to station.
Later, the PM left for Advocate Motiur Rahman Talukder Railway Station in Jamalpur district by a special train at about 11:30 am. She also will address in two wayside rallies at Bhuapur and Hemnagar stations.
The premier will also address a mass rally at local mass ground under Sarishabari Upazila at about 3:30pm after taking rest at Tarakandi Jamuna Fertilizer Factory.
The 37-km long Bangabandhu Bridge- Tarakandi rail road was built at a cost of TK 120 crore. Five new rail stations were built on the route.
These are Bhuapur, Hemnagar, and Baroypatal and Advocate Matiur Rahman Talukder in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur district.
On Friday Communications Minister Obaidul Quader visited newly built rail road from Bangabandhu Bridge to Tarakandi at Bhuapur of Tangail.
Among others, Tangail Deputy Commissioner M Bazlul Karim Chowdhury, police super AKM Hafis Akter, Zila Parisad Administrator Fazlur Rahman Khan Faruk, Pourasava Mayor Sahidur Rahman Khan were present at that time.
