DHAKA: An assistant commissioner of police and two officer-in-charges were suspended Saturday on charge of abusing a girl in police club of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court area.
They are lalbagh Zone AC Rajib Al Masud, Kotwali Thana OC Salahuddin and Bangsal Thana OC Faruk Hossain.
A source from Dhaka Metropolitan Police Headquarters confirmed the matter to banglanews.
On May 28, police personnel assaulted three journalists and two lawyers in Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Judge Court premises for protesting alleged involvement of police in abusing a girl inside police club.
Immediately after the incident, two police personnel were closed for their alleged involvement.
The High Court asked eight police officials to appear before it for their alleged involvement in this connection on May 30.
Meanwhile, the court also issued a suo moto rule for seven days asking the accused “why legal action should not be taken against them”.
