DHAKA: State Minister for Law Advocate Quamrul Islam categorically said the government would take action against the Daily Amar Desh for leaking personal conversation of chairman of International Crimes tribunal (ICT)-1 Justice Nizamul Haque.
“We will take action against Amar Desh soon after reviewing the law in this regard as it has published personal matter of the Justice,” he said.
The state minister came up with the observation to journalists at his residence in city on Tuesday night.
Justice Nizamul Haque has resigned as the chairman of the tribunal soon after published a news item over his Skype conversation.
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Barrister Shafique Ahmed confirmed the matter to banglanews on Tuesday.
Nizamul Haque submitted his resignation letter to the law ministry through the registrar of the tribunal and law secretary Sheikh Mohammad Jahirul Haque received the letter.
Law secretary said, “The tribunal chairman has resigned on personal ground.”
On Sunday last, the Daily Amar Desh published a news item disclosing secret Skype conversation between Justice Nizamul Haque and Dr Ahmed Ziauddin living in abroad.
The Supreme Court Bar Association President Joynal Abedin on Monday demanded resignation of chairman of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Justice Nizamul Haque for the conversation.
