DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Sunday categorically said free-book distribution among the students of class I-IX would be continued following the existing system.
“It is very difficult to identify the guardian who has financial solvency during the book distribution. So, the existing system will be continued in future as the government has no plan to change the process,” he said.
The education minister made the disclosure while addressing the parliament in response to a question from lawmaker Nurul Islam BSc of Chittagong-8.
He also told the House it is true that the government could able to save money if the free of cost book was not distributed among the children of financially solvent family.
Replying to another question from Apu Ukil MP, he said teachers from countrywide 20,500 institutions are being provided training to develop digital content for education activities.
A laptop and multimedia projector would be given to those institutions for teaching the students through information and communication technology, he told the parliament.
