DHAKA: United Airways (BD) Limited, the country’s leading largest private airline, restarted flying on Chittagong-Kolkata route from Monday to carry passengers from Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport, Chittagong to Kolkata.
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor M Manzurul Alam inaugurated the flying function at noon at Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport.
A flight carrying 37 passengers took off to Kolkata from Chittagong at 1:10pm while another flight carrying 30 passengers from Suvash Chandra Basu International Airport of Kolkata, India landed at Hazrat Shah Amanat International Airport at 3:20pm.
Weekly three flights from Chittagong to Kolkata will be operated on Friday, Monday and Wednesday and depart from Chittagong at 1230hrs.
The one way special fare for Chittagong-Kolkata has been fixed at Tk 7,345 said Md Quamrul Islam, AGM of the company.
United Airways is also operating daily flights to Kolkata from Dhaka. Every flight departs from Dhaka at 1000hrs. The one way special fare for Dhaka-Kolkata is Tk. 6,734 and return fare is TK. 9,928 (inclusive of all taxes).
We proudly introduced ATR-72 to Kolkata from Dhaka. This type of aircraft is more speed, safety, reliability and more comfortable seats, said the authorities concerned.
United Airways, the first ever public limited company in aviation sector of Bangladesh, is now operating more international routes from Dhaka to Jeddah, Dubai, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, Katmandu and Kolkata and also from Chittagong to Muscat.
The airline is operating flights to all major domestic sectors from Dhaka.
Now United Airways (BD) Ltd. Has a total of 9 aircrafts which are two Dash-8-100, two ATR-72, three MD-83 and two Airbus-310 aircrafts.
United is procuring four Jetstream aircraft by September 2012 for services to less used airports.
