Tax fair kicks off Sunday

CHITTAGONG: A seven-day income tax fair will begin on Sunday in Chittagong with a theme of ‘I pay tax for myself’.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Amin is scheduled to inaugurate the fair at gymnasium hall of MA Aziz Stadium at 10:00am in the day.

Earlier, a rally will be held in front of Tax Bhaban-1 in port city’s Agrabad area and later, a procession to be brought out to mark Income Tax Day.
 
Income Tax Day will be observed on September 15.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will recognize highest and long-time taxpayers at the gymnasium hall to encourage people pay taxes regularly.

The NBR is set to hold the fair in divisional cities, including the capital from September 16 to 22 as part of an awareness campaign.

The fair which will remain open from 10:00am to 6:00pm everyday, will end on September 22.

Tax zone-1 commissioner also Tax Day celebration committee president M Dabir Uddin briefed reporters at conference hall of Agrabad Tax Zone-1 commissioner office.
