DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Saturday claimed that the next election would also be held in a fair manner.
She said: “A total of 5,200 elections were held during three years of the incumbent government’s tenure. All were held in free and fair manners. Nobody can raise any allegation against the polls. So, next election would also be held in a fair manner.”
The Awami League president came up with the assertion while addressing a view-exchange with Meherpur district Awami League leaders at Gono Bhaban.
She urged her party men to do work for people, for the development of the country.
“The Election Commission will supervise the election. For this, it will be strengthened. Nobody can interfere on the activities of the Election Commission during election going on. Law enforcing agencies and administration will remain under supervision of the Election Commission,” she added.
Hasina said, “We believe in people’s power. The party will come in power which get people’s mandate.”
Criticizing BNP-Jamaat alliance government and caretaker government, the premier said, “Nobody was spare from torture and harassment during last caretaker government. Even, it also tortured me and opposition leader of the present parliament. I think that she (Khaleda Zia) did not forget the incident.”
