DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the government has thrown the country in a dark tunnel.
The senior leader of the party came up with the allegation while addressing a discussion meeting arranged by Bangladesh Monchya held at the National Press Club in the city Tuesday.
Calling upon the youths of the country to stand against the government, he said, “You all have to rescue the country from the dark tunnel where incumbent Awami League government has thrown it.”
He also alleged that the government has started doing extortion in the name of collecting fund for Padma Bridge while it has no plan or design layout.
The spokesperson for the former ruling party said, “The government is worthless and incompetent as the World Bank has cancelled Padma Bridge funding which also left the country’s economy in uncertainty.”
The discussion was also addressed, among others, by noted journalist Ershad Majumder, Professor Dr Khalilur Rahman, Professor Dr Amzad Hossain and journalist Elahi Newaz Khan.
