Prof Anwar joins as JU VC

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Eminent Professor Anwar Hossain joined Jahangirnagar University as the vice chancellor Wednesday, says a press release.

After joining Professor Anwar Hossain expressed his determination to build JU as a ‘Dreamt University’.

Professor Anwar Hossain was made the VC the university from a three-member panel, elected by the JU Senate members on July 20 last.

Earlier President M Zillur Rahman, also Chancellor of the university, appointed Professor Anwar Hossain as the vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University on Tuesday.

In the panel poll, Professor Shariff bagged the highest 50 votes and the incumbent VC got 38 votes while Professor Nurul Alam 37 votes.

Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossain, the Biochemistry and Microbiology Professor of the Dhaka University (DU), is the President of DU Teachers’ Association and younger brother of freedom fighter Col M Abu Taher, Bir Uttam.
