JHENIDAH: Some 60 students of Jhenaidah Polytechnic Institute were sued under speedy trial tribunal act for clashing with the transport workers and vandalizing vehicles on Saturday night.
Police held five of the students in this connection.
District Bus-Minibus Owners’ Association joint secretary Mehedi Hasan Billal filed the case with Sadar Thana as the plaintiff Sunday.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Thana Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury told banglanews, students of the institute attacked in the central bus terminal of the district and vandalized some vehicles and locked into a clash with transport workers while they were staging demo on Saturday noon to restore the diploma engineers’ status, leaving 22 injured including police personnel.
Police sent the detainees to prison through court on Sunday noon, the OC added.
