DCs asked to stop coaching business

DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid asked the deputy commissioners to monitor government activities to stop coaching business in the country.
 
The education minister came up with the instruction while talking to the journalists after the education ministry session at DC conference Tuesday.

On the other hand, the deputy commissioner attending the conference urged the education minister to increase the power of the school managing committees.

The education premier said DCs were asked to work in cooperation with everyone to implement the coaching business termination policy.

They were also called to succeed the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust to provide grants for the poor and meritorious students of school, college and universities.

The minister said the DCs were learned to take initiatives to resist the decline of student number and to run midday meal with the help of local inhabitants in every upazila.

The DCs also asked to take actions to distribute books within the first day of the year like previous years, the minister added.
